About this build
The Millbrae ADU is a ground-up, fully custom detached ADU built in the Spanish-revival tradition, with hand-troweled white stucco walls under a clay-tile roof, an arched covered entry flanked by Italian cypress, and a hand-set Moroccan tile niche that gives the facade its signature moment. Travertine pavers carry the arrival sequence from the main house to the front door.
Inside, the barrel-vaulted ceiling is framed by dark-stained beams over a full kitchen with custom walnut cabinetry, waterfall quartz counters, and integrated appliances: a complete, independent home in the backyard, not a prefab drop-in.
Design, engineering, permitting, foundation, framing, and finish work were all handled in-house by the ADU San Mateo team, from the first site visit to final delivery.
